Brendan Rodgers Admits Iheanacho Still In His Plans

Rodgers Admits Iheanacho In Plans

Leicester City boss, Brendan Rodgers has stated that Kelechi Iheanacho remains in his plans despite the forward’s limited playing time in his team this season.

Iheanacho, who arrived from Manchester City in 2017 a big-money move, has been totally frozen out of first-team action this term despite his high profile.

The former FIFA U-17 World Cup winner made his first start of the season in Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup 3-1 win against Burton Albion in which he scored the opening goal for the Foxes.

His only other appearance was in the Carabao Cup Third Round win against Luton Town. He scored Leicester City’s last goal in the 4-0 win.

Iheanacho has made the matchday squad thrice for Leicester City this season and the arrival of Ayoze Perez from Newcastle United has further limited his chances of playing on a regular basis.

Rodgers admits that the presence of Englishman Jamie Vardy has made it difficult for him to pick Iheanacho.

“He’s playing behind one of the great strikers in Europe. I know that when I need him, he’ll be ready,” Rodgers told a news conference on Friday.
