Ighalo Apologises Super Eagles Fans

Super Eagles striker Jude Odion Ighalo has tendered apologies to Nigerians for failing to reach the final of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Nigeria loss 2-1 to Algeria in a semifinal match on Sunday night in Cairo and Ighalo's name was on the score sheet for the Eagles increasing his total goals at the tournament to four and currently the highest goal scorer at the AFCON.

“I apologise to all Nigerians for losing against Algeria. We did our best but I guess our best wasn't good enough. We conceded a late goal and there was nothing we could do about it.

“We now have to play in playoffs and we are going to do our best to win the third-place match. That's the best we can do now; go for the bronze, Ighalo told GoalBall.

Nigeria will now meet Tunisia, who lost 1-0 to Senegal, in the third-place match on Wednesday 17, 2019 at 8pm Nigerian time.
