The 2023/24 campaign in European football has seen Super Eagles players and prospects pick up from where they left off in the 2022/23 season.

Nigeria national football team fans are introduced to a new player every week doing exploits in the top flight league of an European country.

The strikers from Nigeria are currently the hottest property in football and Super Eagles manager José Peseiro has had a headache making selections.

Here, we rank in order of appearance, the best performing Super Eagles players in European football so far.

Victor Boniface – Striker/Centre forward

Goals: 6 | Assists: 2

Victor Boniface was the name on the lips of every Super Eagles fan last season when it emerged that there was a young striker in Belgium doing exploits. A certain Gift Orban was also mentioned alongside him and both players were playing to find a move to a bigger club.

Boniface got out first, with the former Bayern Munich midfielder-turned-coach of Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Xabi Alonso, requesting specifically for him.

The Spanish tactician has hit gold with Boniface, who has put in an amazing shift in front of goal and is going toe to toe with Harry Kane for the German Bundesliga Torjaegerkannone, the top scorer prize.

Boniface's form also saw him earn his first senior Super Eagles call last September, and he is in prime position to return in October.

He is the best performer among the current crop of players who represent the three-time AFCON winners.

Rafiu Durosinmi – Forward

Goals: 3 | Assists: 4

Rafiu Durosinmi is a Super Eagles prospect who plies his trade with Viktoria Plzen in Czechia. A graduate of Box2Box Academy, he made his sojourn to Europe at 17 years, joining Karvina.

He played for his current club on loan last season and was signed permanently ahead of the ongoing season. He is now the best player in the Fortuna Liga, the Czech top flight and is grabbing the attention of the Super Eagles handlers.

However, he is currently one of many talents for the top 9/main striker/centre forward role in the team, which will make it difficult for him to be selected any time soon.

His versatility which also allows him to play on the left could come in handy for him in the future.

Terem Moffi – Striker/Centre forward

Goals: 3 | Assists: 2

Terem Moffi is a victim of his own success as far as the Super Eagles is concerned. The striker plies his trade in France's Ligue 1 for OGC Nice and has done so since January 2023.

Before then, he had stints at Lorient in the same league, in Belgium and in Lithuania after moving to Europe from Nigeria in 2016.

Moffi has consistently performed at all his clubs but the Super Eagles manager's setup which he has built with certain players and the calibre of the league he plays in has been a stumbling block for him.

So far, he has been one of the best performers with three goals and two assists from six games as OGC Nice make their way into the top four in France's top flight.

Raphael Onyedika – Midfielder

Raphael Onyedika is a breath of fresh air for the Super Eagles who are struggling to produce any midfielders.

The talent in the Nigeria national football team is top-heavy but with tireless midfielders like Onyedika providing cover and contributing to the attack, Peseiro will be less worried about the squad's balance.

Onyedika is also just as useful to his club side, Belgian Jupiler Pro League team Club Brugge. He has started most games for them this season and though he has had no goal contributions, he is one of their most used players in all competitions.
