When is the next Super Falcons match?

The next Super Falcons match is against Lucy – the Ethiopia women’s national football team. The match is the second leg of their second round match in the CAF Women’s 2024 Olympics qualifying tournament.

The Nigeria women’s national football team are second round entrants thanks to their position in the FIFA Women’s world rankings and their participation in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Lucy had to defeat Chad to set up this interesting clash.

In the first leg the Super Falcons forced a 1-1 draw on Ethiopia at the Addis Ababa Stadium. In the next Super Falcons match, they will go into the 2nd leg as favourites to win but it would be wrong to underestimate the Ethiopia in any regard.

Next Super Falcons match: Super Falcons' first match since August World Cup exit

The Super Falcons’ last match  against Ethiopia was their first game since their exit from the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup at the hands of England in the round of 16.

In September 2023, the nine-time women’s Africa Cup of Nations champions were supposed to face Sao Tome and Principe women’s national football team in their first match of the 2024 Women’s AFCON qualifying fixtures.

The island nation cancelled the game, leading to Nigeria getting a bye to the second round of the qualification which will see them face Cape Verde in November and December.

They are favourites going into the match with Ethiopia but after Lucy thrashed Chad 10 – 0 on aggregate over two legs, Randy Waldrum will not take the Super Falcon’s next match lightly.

The squad list has already been released and the players are already in camp in Addis Ababa. Barcelona Femeni Forward, Asisat Oshoala, Michelle Alozie, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and other invited players were expected to arrive in Addis Ababa yesterday, ahead of the Super Faclons’ next match.

Preparations underway for next Super Falcons match

NFF media director Ademola Olajire manager Randy Waldrum traveled straight from his United States base to the camp to prepare for the Super Falcons’ matches against Ethiopia.

According to reports, CAF has appointed Togolese referees for the encounter.

Ethiopia have already started their preparations for the game as they seek to seal a big victory ahead of the second leg in Abuja on Tuesday 31 October 2023.
