The Super Falcons of Nigeria played Ireland's women's team in their last Group B match of the 2023 FIFA Women's World.

The game with Ireland took place at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia at 11:00 am Nigeria time on Monday, 31 July.

The Super Falcons only needed a draw to scale through to the next round, and they got what they wanted, playing out a goalless draw with Ireland to make the Round of 16

Australia finished first on six points after recording a comprehensive 4-0 win over Canada to reach the next round. They will next play Group D runners-up.

With Nigeria ending the group in second place on five points after a favourable result against Ireland, let's look at their possible opponents in the next round.

Super Falcons came second in Group B

The Super Falcons will meet Group D winners (likely England) courtesy of their second-place finish in Group B.

However, we'd like to point out that England are yet to play their last game in Group D. Currently, England women's team top Group D with six points.

England next play China on Tuesday in a match the Chinese will be desperate for all three points in order to qualify, while a draw will confirm the Lionesses as group winners.

Interestingly, if China fail to pick up a win against England, and Denmark beat Haiti, the Danes will finish as runners-up in Group D, and will play the World Cup host, Australia.

The Super Falcons will start the knockout rounds on 7, August 2023, as they look forward to making remarkable progress in this year's tournament.
