Sparks will fly as the Nigeria Super Falcons take on co-hosts Australia at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. Which of these teams will take all three points from this FIFA Women's World Cup match?

Prediction 1: Nigeria Super Falcons or draw

There's a lot at stake for both teams. On one hand, the Australians will secure a place in the knockout stages of this competition if they win this match. Likewise, the Super Falcons need at least one point from this match.

Australia have been in tip-top form these past few months; they are coming into this match on the back of three consecutive wins, with 10 victories in their last 11 matches across all competitions. Bearing that in mind, it's really no surprise that they are the clear favourites to win this match.

Although the Super Falcons have not particularly enjoyed the same fine form as today's opponents; they are unbeaten in their last four games, with three wins and a draw. Interestingly, Randy Waldrum's girls held their own against Canada in the opening match, despite being the underdogs. We believe they can do the same against Australia today.

Prediction 2: One team to blank

We've already established that the Australians won 10 of their last 11 matches. That recent success is due, in part, to their solid defense. In fact, Tony Gustafsson's women did not concede a single goal in their last three matches; they kept seven clean sheets in their last nine games too.

In like manner, the Super Falcons have three clean sheets in their last four games, allowing just one goal in that stretch. At least one team blanked in eight of Australia's last nine matches, six of Nigeria's last seven games too. All things considered, we shouldn't expect goals at both ends.

Prediction 3: Under 2.5 total goals

For our final Australia vs Nigeria Super Falcons prediction, let's take a look at the over/under goals market. Given how solid these teams have been defensively, it's no surprise that we are taking the under option for today's game. This is partly because both teams have been involved in their fair share of low-scoring games lately.

Five of Nigeria's last seven matches featured less than three goals, with four of those going below the 1.5 goal line. Similarly, all of Australia's last four matches went south of the 2.5 goal marker. For these reasons, we don't think these teams will score up to three goals between them.

Australia vs Nigeria Super Falcons head to head

This will be the second encounter between Australia and the Nigeria Super Falcons. Interestingly, these teams previously met in the group stages of the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup, and the Australians won that game by two unreplied goals.
